A biologist from the beginning...

 

Always drawn to the sea, Doug knew from an early age that he wanted to be a marine biologist. Perhaps it was the influence of Jacques Cousteau's books and television shows that helped him put a name to his future career, or the trips to the beach, where even frigid waves were never a deterrent to a day of swimming, body surfing, and getting to know the marine life all around him. He was curious, constantly learning, and teaching those around him about the beauty and science of the natural world.
